As you work, SOLIDWORKS interprets your touch inputs and gestures, intuitively switching model behavior based on your selection. Simply tap the desired face of each part on screen, and the components automatically snap into position. Using touch interaction, you can quickly and easily assemble parts together using Smartmates.
Adding sketch dimensions is now quicker and easier than ever!įinally, SOLIDWORKS provides an intuitive touch optimized environment that supports typical everyday design workflows. Select or sketch an entity, then write the value, and SOLIDWORKS will detect and interpret your hand writing, and convert it into a fully associative driving dimension. SOLIDWORKS 2019 introduces a truly unique approach to capturing design intent, dimensions can now be created in an instant by writing directly on screen. In addition to Lines, Arcs, and Circles, hand drawn Slot shapes are now recognized and converted into Slot sketch entities, enabling you to utilize this exciting new approach to model creation regardless of the geometry. Not just a tool for the Industrial Designer, Gesture sketching provides a quick and easy way to create prismatic designs.
The resulting shape can be modified just like any other, making it even easier to achieve any shape you desire. Now in SOLIDWORKS 2019 your hand sketched shapes can be automatically converted into Splines. Whether you design complex shapes or simple mechanical parts, SOLIDWORKS gesture sketching provides an innovative approach to capturing rapid fire design ideas. The Dial keeps you completely in touch with your design, by providing an exciting and immersive way of interacting with SOLIDWORKS using touch mode. Geometric relation Dimensions Over defined, under defined and fully defined sketch Sketch fillet and chamfer Advanced tools such as polygon, ellipse, parabola etc. Place the Dial directly on the screen, then press and hold, and the tools appear graphically at your fingertips directly on the digital table. We will cover the following topics: SolidWorks user interface View manipulation Basic tools such as line, rectangular, Arc circle tool etc.
Now when working on any Windows touch enabled device you can use a Microsoft Surface Dial to pan, zoom and rotate your model. Just like magic, it will make a VIRTUAL SHARP for you ! AND you can then of course Dimension to it.SOLIDWORKS 2019 delivers a wealth of innovative new productivity enhancements that let you take advantage of the latest cutting edge hardware technology. Or what if the geomerty of your sketch doesn’t really make the sharp corner that you need to Dimension to in the first place ? You may have noticed in the past, when in a sketch, if you Dimension to a sharp corner and THEN add a Sketch Fillet after the Dimension, that would get rid of that corner, it adds a nice little “virtural sharp (intersection)” where the sharp corner USED to be, and keeps your Dimension attached to it !
There are the ones that you can make when you are IN a sketch and then the ones you can make when you are NOT in a sketch !įor this little known POINT functionality, we are talking about the one when you are INSIDE of a Sketch. If SO, you are missing out on some cool things it can do !!Īs mentioned in part 1 of this blog (posted on Aug 30th), there are 2 different types of POINTS in SolidWorks.
A lot of people think that the POINT tool (you know, THIS thing * ) in SOLIDWORKS may not be very usefull other than for the Sketch Driven Pattern command…
